MUSIC The next piece we will learn originally for the piano is the Happy Farmer from the Album for the Young by Robert Schumann. This piece is important because the student learns how to play the hooked bowing. The dotted quarter note connected to the eighth note on the same bow. Another very important bow stroke learned in this piece is the travel bow.
To help with the memorization of the piece, the student should be aware of the form A a prime,B b prime. The student will isolate and practice the hooked bow stroke on the open a before playing the piece. Makes sure to bite, or catch the eighth note for articulation.
Okay, so let's practice our hooked bowing. On the open A. So let's put our hand up here we'll set the bow in the middle or let's actually set it at the frog. Check the bow hold. Good so we're going to play ta dot. And we're going to stop on the dot. Catch the bow and then release it for the T, the eight note, okay?
Ta dot, ta dot. MUSIC Good can you do it by yourself? MUSIC Good, all right lets practice our travel bow to the frog. Two fingers down on the T string. We'll play to the frog, stop in the middle, good, lets do it again.
MUSIC Good, can you do that by yourself? MUSIC Very good. All right, let's play the whole piece, ready?
Bow in the middle and we're going to start on the up bow. MUSIC Ta dot, ta, dot MUSIC Up MUSIC Two, the frog, stop. Now section b. MUSIC Fourth finger a little higher.
MUSIC Good. MUSIC Very good. Okay Milan, would you like to play this all by yourself? Remember to start up bow. MUSIC Very good! Guardian crossword 25560. That was great!
